We must be free people to stand up for our Motherland’s freedom, — from the Head of the UGCC on the 295th day of the war
God, help our youth to preserve the freedom you have given us. Help us all to understand that to defend our Motherland’s independence, we must be free people. The Father and head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, said on the 295th day of the war which Russian invaders brought to our peaceful land.
The Primate noted that the Ukrainian land trembled again during the last day. «The entire northern border region: Chernihiv region, Sumy region, and Kharkiv region — suffers from dozens of Russian shelling every day, which Russia carries out from its territory on our land… Bakhmut is already being called the Stalingrad of the third millennium. The Zaporizhzhia region is subjected to heavy shelling along the entire front line,» said the Head of the UGCC.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav also noted that worsening weather conditions are becoming more and more difficult for people to survive in conditions of limited electricity supply, without heat in their homes.
According to the estimates of various international humanitarian institutions, today, 18 million residents of Ukraine, which is 40 % of the population, need urgent humanitarian assistance.
The Head of the Church continued his reflections on supporting Ukrainian youth. «Today’s young people need to understand that they are priceless. Therefore, do not allow yourself to be commoditized. But, unfortunately, today, we often love things instead of using them and loving people. Do not let someone buy you or tempt you. Please do not allow yourself to be enslaved by the ideological colonizations of our time, which try to plant strange ideas in our heads so that we become enslaved people, losers,» the spiritual leader encouraged.
«Dear girls and boys, — addressed the Primate — you are priceless! You must always repeat to yourself: I am not in the auction — I do not have a price! I am free! Accept this freedom that Christ gives you today because we can be free and experience freedom only when we do good.»
