Background
The parish of the Donetsk Exarchate of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Pavlohrad was established in 2015. From that year until 2022, Fr. Yaroslav Shvachuk regularly visited the faithful.
In 2022, Fr. Taras Salo began ministering to the parish, continuing until he was appointed administrator of the Parish of the Ascension of the Lord in Ternivka, near Pavlohrad.
In August 2024, the Parish of the Descent of the Holy Spirit received legal status and was officially registered.
In November of the same year, two active parishioners, Myroslav and Lyubov Horchuk, appealed to Mayor Anatoliy Vershyna to allocate a plot of land to the parish. After the required documents were submitted and two city council sessions held, the council approved the allocation of land to the Donetsk Exarchate of the UGCC for the newly registered parish in Pavlohrad. It was on this plot that, on June 8, Bishop Emeritus Stephan Meniok consecrated the cross.
