On April 10, 2025, more than 60 Sisters of the Order of St. Basil the Great from Ukraine, Romania, Argentina, Slovakia, the United States, and Italy made a joint pilgrimage to the Vatican as part of the Jubilee Year 2025. The purpose of the trip was to praise God and pray for peace in the world, particularly in Ukraine.

Basilian Sisters From Around the World Go on Pilgrimage to Rome

This was reported by Vatican News.

Among the many Ukrainian Basilian Sisters was Mother Danylia Vynnyk, Provincial Superior of the Province of the Holy Trinity. She emphasized that this pilgrimage was a true miracle for her and a great gift from the Lord.

Speaking to Vatican Media, the Provincial Superior of the Basilian Sisters in Ukraine shared the significance of this pilgrimage in the context of the ongoing war. She noted that making a pilgrimage to Rome during the Year of Hope is “a pilgrimage of hope for peace, for God’s blessing on our long-suffering people.”

Mother Danylia also said that the Sisters prayed fervently “for peace in Ukraine, for our boys and girls who are defending our homeland—especially those on the front lines, who face the most difficult situations—for all the wounded, and for those in captivity, especially the families of our Sisters who are wounded, and all the people who are now grieving.”

“Our prayers are with all the mothers, all the children, all the brothers and sisters who have lost their loved ones or are waiting for them to return,” she added.

She shared that the Basilian Sisters from Ukraine carried their homeland in their hearts on this pilgrimage: “Ukraine is with us, in the flags we brought. And in every place where we pray, we first pray for our Ukraine.”
