The Head of the UGCC expresses condolences for the train crash in Greece
His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Head and Father of the UGCC, sent a letter to express his condolences to Bishop Manuel Nin, Apostolic Exarch to the Greek Byzantine Catholic Church in Greece, for a large-scale train collision near the city of Larissa.
“It was with great sadness that we learned about the head-on train crash near the Greek city of Larissa, which killed several dozen people, causing burns and injuries due to a powerful explosion. It is difficult to comprehend the dimension of this tragedy, and we are overwhelmed with sadness for all the victims, many of whom were students. We pray with the victims’ parents and families and wish the injured a speedy recovery,” reads the letter of the Head of the UGCC
His Beatitude Sviatoslav emphasized that Ukrainians mourn the deaths of many sons and daughters every day since the start of Russian aggression, but “we want to stand in solidarity with the Greek people in their suffering, unite our tears of pain with yours.”
The Head of the UGCC assured the Apostolic Exarch of his prayerful support and expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery of the victims of this severe disaster.
