His Beatitude Sviatoslav Consecrates Diocesan Cheese Factory near Chernivtsi
The Father and Head of the UGCC and members of the Permanent Synod of Bishops visited the diocesan eco-farm in the village of Striletskyi Kut, where His Beatitude Sviatoslav performed the rite of consecration of the cheese factory, as it was reported by the press service of the Chernivtsi Eparchy.
The administrator, Fr. Ihor Romanyshyn, gave a tour and explained the specifics of making and ripening different types of cheese made from cow and goat milk. The priest noted that part of the proceeds will be used to build new churches in three diocese parishes. Fr. Ihor also showed the goats, sharing the specifics of their care.
After the tour, those in the tasting room sampled the products of the cheese factory and socialized.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav extended wishes for success, development, and productive, well-organized work. Similar to Ukrainian communities worldwide, which have employed various fundraising methods for their support (such as varenyky sales in American parishes), the Chernivtsi Eparchy will now have a resource for its own maintenance and growth.
